Dear Sir,

I recently purchased the ‘The Yard’ DVD from
the Pump House Café shop near
the dry dock in Belfast, after having been
on the Titanic walking tour. I
told the guide that my dad used to work in
the drawing office in the 1950
for Harland and Wolff. The guide told me
about the DVD called the ‘Yard’,
which I then purchased. When I saw the
film, I was able to spot out my dad
working in the drawing office. He is the
man in the bottom left hand corner
of the film, a couple of seconds after
the ‘The Drawing Office ‘film section
starts. He is the Asian man with a round
bald patch near the top of his
head, and he is walking to where he is
working, and starting work. He is on
the film for about 3 or 4 seconds.

I was wondering if whether the uncut
original version of the film would
have more on him. I would also be
interested to know if his name is still in
the records. My father’s name is Mohamed
Zahir Navaz, date of birth 1/3/1928
and he worked at Harland and Wolff in
the mid to late 1950s in the drawing
office, as a naval architect, which
enabled him to get his naval architect
certificate. Sadly, he passed away
twenty years ago, but we would love to
know if there is any more film of him
or any other information on him.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Mrs. Nadia Navaz Bawa

(Mohamed Zahir Navaz’s eldest daughter)
Anyone knowing Mr Navaz please contact us.
We would love to hear from others who can spot relatives
or friends in the 1950's DVD, 'The Yard'.
Thanks again Nadia, we will keep you informed.
